Stone Island unveils their 2012 Spring Summer Lookbook Preview. This season, three themes come into mind: New Brutalism, Tesseletion and Aircraft Carrier. The architectural trend from the 50’s was called New Brutalism. Inspired by Le Corbusier’s “Beton Brut”, the use of concrete to create form and function parallels garment construction in a white color scheme.
In Tessellation, mosaic tesserae or tiles create geometric designs to show unique patterns on the surface. Dark nighttime hues, graphic patterns and functional inserts allow free movement and style.
Finally, the Aircraft Carrier theme features military officers at work. Bright oranges and vibrant reds catch attention. Engineered hoods and ribbing complete the wardrobe design.
